Originally from the original 1999 movie, it's established that Ricky and Julian are thick as thieves (literally) and partners in crime. However that friendship is not without its ups and downs. In any case, they grew up together in the trailer park and do just about everything together, seemingly unable to avoid it. ("Halloween 1977")
Living Arrangements Edit
In the original movie, it's not clear whether Ricky lives with Lucy or not, but they do seem to share space in some way. Upon being released from jail in the first episode of the series, he is seen to have nowhere to go until Julian allows him to sleep in his car in his driveway, which Julian later gives to Ricky outright. Ricky lives in this car, dubbed the Shitmobile, for most of the rest of the series. Even when he and Lucy were together, it was clear that she wanted him to sleep elsewhere. ("Take Your Little Gun And Get Out Of My Trailer Park")
In season three, Ricky very nearly bought himself a trailer in the park, but he spent more money than he thought and instead bought a set of encyclopedias for Trinity, having to choose between the two. ("The Kiss Of Freedom")
Briefly, Ricky lived in the supervisor's trailer when he ran the park in season four, but promptly returned to the shitmobile after he was removed from that position. ("Never Cry Shitwolf", "The Green Bastard")
Ricky lived in the trailer set up for him to grow dope in season seven. ("I Banged Lucy And Knocked Her Up... No Big Deal")
Love Life Edit
Ricky and Lucy conceived Trinity (at least that is what we are meant to believe, but there is some argument) and experienced an on again off again relationship throughout the series. Ricky consistently carries a torch for her; sometimes his only motivation for doing anything is to get back with her when they are apart, or to keep her when they are together. It's clear by observation that Lucy doesn't think too highly of him, and is intent on doing what she wants and being independent. She is clear in pointing that out to him on several occasions. Despite this, Ricky keeps trying but ultimately failing to make the relationship work, having to go through seeing her with other men, rejecting him, and in the end, having a baby with Randy of all people, which finally breaks the spell. ("The Fuckin' Way She Goes", "The Way Of The Road", "I Banged Lucy And Knocked Her Up... No Big Deal")
In season two, Ricky hooks up with Sarah briefly, after being dumped by Lucy, and it's implied that this is not the first time they had been an item (she describes his lovemaking techniques in an episode, which leads one to conclude this). Things seem to be going well, despite her earlier (and later) opinions that he is a loser, but it doesn't last beyond the season and things go back to the way they were between them both. ("I'm Not Gay, I Love Lucy... Wait A Second, Maybe I Am Gay", "The Bible Pimp", "The Kiss Of Freedom")
In season four, Barb Lahey becomes attracted to Ricky while he is acting as the Trailer Park supervisor, and eventually proposes to him. Drunk and stoned, Ricky accepts but then gets dumped by Barb when he is sent to prison. ("Propane, Propane") .
Ricky is the son of Ray, Father of Trinity, and on and off partner of Lucy. Ricky also has a grandson named Ray (The Motel) who is born in season 9. It is later revealed in the season 10 finale that Ricky is actually the son of Lahey, unbeknownst to Ricky. Later in season 11, it was revealed via blood test that Lahey was not Ricky's dad.
Criminal Activity Edit
Ricky's list of illegal pursuits is extensive. For a complete list, see the article Operations.
Other Information Edit
Ricky states once or twice that he has never worked at a real job, but in fact he has had three bonafide jobs, one a mall cop in Season Two, he works as the park supervisor (a paid position) in season four, and also as a janitor at the local vocational school (although is it basically a front to sell drugs to the students and faculty) in season five. ("What In The Fuck Happened To Our Trailer Park?", "Never Cry Shitwolf", "The Winds Of Shit")
Ricky is not portrayed as an educated man, not even a little. He has failed many grades (failing grade 6 three times, as explained in "Where In The Fuck Is Oscar Goldman?", because he was drunk most of the time) , and didn't pass grade 10 (until he resumed his schooling in the series) ("The Bare Pimp Project"), which is a source of dismay for him. He constantly messes things up, fails to understand the simplest concepts, mispronounces or misunderstands words and phrases, has trouble expressing complex ideas and feelings, and loses his cool when any of these things happen. He likewise hates it when anyone appears to come off as smarter than him and responds angrily. As a person with only a stunted education, he has scarcely grown up beyond the age he was when he stopped having a formal education; he is the same person he was as a youth.
Ricky's appearance is mostly extreme casual leaning toward slovenly at times, often wearing worn and torn clothing, mainly track pants or tearaways and loose fitting button up short sleeves with odd designs on them. The only part of his appearance that seems consistently preened is his elongated sideburns and stylized pompadour.
Ricky smokes cigarettes very, very often (one of the few characters on the show that do), although he never seems to have any, instead preferring to bum them off of other people (usually Trevor). Naturally, Ricky is a marijuana enthusiast as well as a drinker. He loves to proclaim his desire to get "drunk and stoned." A running joke in the show is when Ricky is in a public place he will light up a cigarette and be told not to, much to his chagrin. He often fails to realize one cannot smoke in many public places anymore.
He is very clumsy, and tends to trip and fall in the most inopportune moments, such as when he and Julian were trying to calm down Bubbles after an argument between Julian and Ray.
When in the mood, Ricky will taunt anyone with a 'knock knock joke', which isn't a joke per se, merely a method of getting a person's attention and then rambling off whatever rhetoric he wants to say about what's going on at that moment.
Ricky has been shot on numerous occasions, although never critically injured as a result. He has even shot himself by accident. He seems to be a bullet magnet.
Ricky loves and dotes on his daughter, Trinity, but he seems to have trouble acting as a good parent. For example, he is fine with Trinity driving around the park in the shitmobile, being a bottle kid, stealing bikes and tire rims, smoking cigarettes, getting drunk, etc., stating that he was allowed to do so when young, and he turned out fine. However, on a few occasions he has felt the need to correct her and insist that she take a different road than him in life.
Despite his professed lack of intelligence, Ricky is actually very skilled in a myriad of ways. Most of his skills were honed through criminal activity. Ricky is a skilled cook, and learned to read by f ollowing cooking instructions on packages of frozen food. He is also a highly skilled mechanic; he is shown fixing the derelict shitmobile on Julian's lot, as well as fixing a lawnmower engine faster than anyone else. He has a great talent for outsmarting the police, which has saved the boys during countless encounters. Most of all, Ricky is a near savant at growing marijuana. His dope is considered by most people in the trailer park, including Ricky himself, to be the very best.
Ricky has been nick-named 'Reveen' by unseen detractors, due to a resemblance to Canadian entertainer "Reveen The Impossiblist".
Ricky possibly has a form of bladder problem, as he is frequently seen urinating, most often in public.

Ricky is one of only three characters (the others being Lucy and Julian) to appear in the 1999 movie, at least once in all seven seasons of the series, "Dear Santa Claus, Go Fuck Yourself", "Say Goodnight To The Bad Guys", Trailer Park Boys, and Trailer Park Boys: The Movie. Counting just the 'canon' appearances (the series, specials and Countdown...), Ricky is one of seven (Lucy, Ricky, Julian, Bubbles, Mr. Lahey, Randy, Sarah) to do this (Trinity was not in season two, Cory and Trevor were absent from season seven and Countdown). In addition, as he appeared in all episodes of the series, Ricky is one of two (the other being Julian) to actually appear in each and every episode, film and special.
