Julian and Ricky are released from prison after an 18 month sentence, after which they both go home to the Sunnyvale Trailer Park and try to get their lives back together. However, they soon learn that Cyrus has taken over the park.

Plot Synopsis[]

Teaser[]

After showing footage of how they recently ended up in jail (black and white footage from Trailer Park Boys of a shootout in a public street), we see Julian and Ricky being released.

Act One[]

Julian decides that Ricky might be a big part of the reason why they went to jail to begin with and not to hang out with him anymore, leaving Ricky stranded at the gates of the jail. We then see Jim Lahey, the trailer park supervisor, who doesn't have anything nice to say about Ricky and Julian. Somehow Ricky gets himself back to the park on his own and immediately runs into trouble with Jim and his assistant supervisor, Randy.

Julian returns to his trailer and finds that his two lackeys Cory and Trevor have allowed a local bad boy named Cyrus to move in and trash the place. Known for his affinity to wave his gun around a lot and threaten people, he makes it known that he is not afraid of Julian and that he is now running the Sunnyvale Trailer Park.

Act Two[]

Ricky crosses paths with Cyrus for the first time at the local convenience store. They have words with each other and leave without paying for their items. We then meet J-Roc, a local white rapper, and his right-hand man T, who inform Julian that Cyrus is running his own liquor and drug operations out of the park. Ricky tells the camera he feels guilty about being away from his daughter Trinity for so long. Then we are introduced to Bubbles at his shed (which he lives in) who offers to let Julian live with him until he finds somewhere else to go. Julian declines saying he is going to take care of the situation and asks Bubbles to get word around the park that he's going to be tossing Cyrus out that evening.

Cyrus finds Ricky in the park, now realizing he is Julian's friend, and steals two packs of cigarettes from him at gunpoint. He also gives a message to Ricky that Julian should leave the park or face the consequences. Ricky goes to visit Lucy, the mother of their child, and runs into Sarah who would prefer he stay away from them. He manages see Lucy anyway and asks her if he can stay with them; she says no. He then passes up the option of staying with his father Ray, because he is always too drunk.

Act Three[]

Jim Lahey and Randy discuss the possibility of bringing in the police to deal with the impending battle between Julian and Cyrus. Randy wants to keep it in the park and not involve the law. Cyrus arrives and confronts Jim and Randy about his idea to call the cops and threatens them both at gunpoint. He makes Randy kiss his hand before he leaves.

Cyrus and Julian come face to face and Julian responds by entering the trailer and throwing everything of Cyrus' out the window. Cyrus still refuses to leave and says that he is providing a service to the people in the park, but none of the onlookers back him up. Cyrus pulls out his gun and threatens to shoot Julian. Julian points the cocked and loaded gun at his own head and tells him to go ahead. Cyrus balks and eventually Julian takes the gun away from him and tells him to get out, and he does. Jim thanks him, and disperses the crowd.

Ricky tries to make peace with Julian, but Julian shuts him out. After seeing how pathetic he is, Julian changes his mind, and gives him some hot dogs and vodka and allows him sleep in his car for a couple of days.

Background[]

  • The beginning of the episode shows the last few minutes of the black and white pilot Trailer Park Boys in order to set the scene for the series, but their main activity which landed them in jail, pet assassination, is all but ignored in the first episode, and indeed for the rest of the run of the show. Presumably this was because it was deemed too inhumane for a television audience.
  • This episode marks the first time Julian refers to Sunnyvale as his trailer park.
  • During a testimonial, Ricky cannot seem to remember Trinity's age, citing that she's either seven or eight years old. Later references in the series, such as "If I Can't Smoke And Swear, I'm Fucked" and "Dear Santa Claus, Go Fuck Yourself" indicate that as of season 1, Trinity is around seven years old.
